Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery Book
Dr. Linda Carlson and Dr. Michael Speca successfully launched their new book Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery on March 24th, 2011 along with an experiential workshop and reception. In Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery, Linda and Michael present an 8-week program for coping with the symptoms of chemotherapy, radiation, and other cancer treatments by reducing stress and anxiety through meditation, mindfulness, and gentle yoga. Linda is also the author of The Art and Science of Mindfulness along with Shauna Shapiro. Both books are available for purchase at Amazon, click on the book cover for a direct link.
Linda and Michael received an enthusiastic review of their book Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery. Dr. Erin O’Carroll Bantum in Psycho-Oncology describes the book;
“Concepts of mindfulness and meditation that can often be perceived as abstract and of little importance to everyday life are explained with clarity and with clear relevance to cancer recovery.”
“The authors accomplish a great deal in this fairly brief book. They normalize the cancer experience, highlight some of the pitfalls that can get in the way of coping, and provide many resources, in a structure that is conducive to learning and then applying the principles discussed.”
“Although this book was written as a treatment manual for people who have survived cancer, researchers and practitioners will also likely find it to be extremely informative.”
